Di erential Re ection Spectroscopy: A Novel Method for Explosive Detection S.E. Yuksel, T. Dubroca, R.E. Hummel and P.D. Gader Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville FL, USA Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville, USA In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks, there has been an increasing need for automated, high-speed detection technologies that can detect trace amounts of explosives without human intervention. Our group at the University of Florida has developed di erential re ection spectroscopy which can detect explosive residue on surfaces such as parcel, cargo and luggage. In this di erential re ection device, explosives show spectral ngerprints at speci c wavelengths, for example, the spectrum of 2,4,6, trinitrotoluene shows an absorption edge at 420 nm. Additionally, we have developed a support vector machine based computer software to classify the explosives and non-explosive materials. In this study we will (i) describe this system and give an insight into the operation of our prototype, (ii) demonstrate our software for the detection of the spectral nger-prints, and (iii) discuss the normalization of the data which signi cantly increases classi cation rates and decreases the number of parameters. Logarithmic Forms and Anti-invariant Forms of Reeection Groups
Let W be a nite group generated by unitary re ections and A be the set of re ecting hyperplanes. We will give a characterization of the logarithmic di erential forms with poles along A in terms of antiinvariant di erential forms. If W is a Coxeter group de ned over R, then the characterization provides a new method to nd a basis for the module of logarithmic di erential forms out of basic invar...
متن کاملComplex THz Re ectance Spectra of Hexogen Measured for Various Surfaces
Stand-o detection of many substances, including explosive materials, has been focusing attention for over a few decades. Terahertz technology, due to many unusual features, is a good candidate for this purpose. Due to high absorption of explosives in THz range, only re ection geometry seems to be applicable for remote detection. Unfortunately, there are many factors that in uence this kind of m...

So far, many methods have been presented to solve the rst-order di erential equations. But, not many studies have been conducted for numerical solution of high-order fuzzy di erential equations. In this research, First, the equation by reducing time, we transform the rst-order equation. Then we have applied Adams-Bashforth multi-step methods for the initial approximation of one order di erentia...

In this contribution, we are concerned with the detection and re ned localization of 3D point landmarks. We propose multi-step di erential procedures which are generalizations of an existing two-step procedure for subpixel localization of 2D point landmarks. This two-step procedure combines landmark detection by applying a di erential operator with re ned localization through a di erential edge...
متن کاملProbabilistic approximation for a porous medium equation
In this paper, we are interested in the one-dimensional porous medium equation when the initial condition is the distribution function of a probability measure. We associate a nonlinear martingale problem with it. After proving uniqueness for the martingale problem, we show existence owing to a propagation of chaos result for a system of weakly interacting di usion processes. The particle syste...
